Unfortunately, our 14-hour overnight bus journey in Cama class from Salta to Corrientes was a very disappointing experience.
The bus stopped dozens of times throughout the night in small towns to pick up and drop off passengers. People regularly bumped into our seats while getting on and off, constantly waking us up.
From the moment we departed, the radio was playing at full volume. It wasn't until the second stop that I asked the driver if he could turn it off, which he fortunately did.
The USB ports were also disappointing. They didn't work during the first two hours of the journey, and several USB cables didn't fit properly into the ports, making it very difficult to charge our phones.
Every time someone used the restroom, a loud beep sounded to indicate it was occupied. On an overnight journey, this seemed completely unnecessary.
In addition, the driver and his colleague never announced where we were stopping, so we had no idea where we were during the trip.
The bus also remained surprisingly bright throughout the night. The windows were not tinted, so the headlights of oncoming traffic constantly shone into the bus. There were also no privacy curtains, even though many other bus companies provide them.
The biggest issue, however, was the complete lack of enforcement of basic courtesy. Several passengers were watching TikTok videos out loud until after 1:00 a.m. Despite how disruptive and disrespectful this was to everyone else, neither the driver nor his colleague did anything about it. Even with earplugs, it was almost impossible to get any sleep.
The only real positives were that the Wi-Fi worked very well and the seats were comfortable.
Finally, we found it unacceptable that we were asked to tip both when our luggage was loaded and when it was unloaded. We had already paid ARS 126,000 for this journey, and we weren't even allowed to load or unload our own bags. Asking for a tip under those circumstances felt completely inappropriate.
